The Playstation 4 is to be named/codenamed Orbis and is set to release late 2013. According to Kotaku a “reliable” source has shared information that the Playstation 4 will contain an AMD x64 CPU and AMD Southern Islands GPU, capable of displaying games at a resolution of 4096×2160 and will be able to play 3D games at 1080p.

Furthermore, as stated by Kotaku it will not support backwards compatibility and will incorporate anti-used game technology. Games will be available both in disc form and digitally but once a disc is inserted, for the first time, into the system it will be locked to a psn account and can no longer be shared unless the second hand user pays the unlock fee. According to the source select developers have been receiving development kits since the beginning of this year and are expected to receive more finalized units at the end of the year.
